The Fordham University women's crew opened its 2012 fall schedule last weekend at the Head of the Housatonic on the Housatonic River with the Novice 8 placing third and the Varsity 8 taking 12th.
In the Novice 8 race, Radcliffe won the event going away in a time of 16:12.20 while Massachusetts and Fordham fought for second with the Minutewomen (16:36.90) finishing just over eight seconds in front of the Rams (16:45.56). Fordham easily outpaced the fourth place crew, finishing over a minute in front of the Yale boat.
In the Varsity 8 race, Yale took gold in a time of 15:14.19 with Radcliffe second (15:24.31) and the Yale B boat third (15:30.90). Fordham placed 12th in a time of 16:50.22, more than seven seconds in front of Atlantic 10 rivals, Massachusetts. The Fordham B shell placed 18th in 18:03.98.
The Rams also entered two boats in the Varsity 4 with the A boat placing seventh and the B boat taking 14th. Radcliffe won the race in a time of 16:28.24 with Yale taking second and third. The Rams' A boat covered the course in a time of 18:20.01, just 0.02 seconds behind sixth place Massachusetts, but well ahead of eighth-placed Yale.
The Rams will next be in action when they compete at the Head of the Charles starting on Saturday, October 20th, in Cambridge, Mass.
