Bronx, N.Y. -
YES Network, the television home of the Yankees, will team with another Bronx institution for game broadcasts in 2012. YES will present four Fordham University men's home basketball game broadcasts live from the historic Rose Hill Gymnasium in January and February, it was announced today.
All four will be key Atlantic 10 Conference matchups, featuring George Washington on Saturday, January 28; Charlotte on Saturday, February 4; Dayton on Saturday, February 11; and LaSalle on Saturday, February 25. Tip off for each of the broadcasts is at 1:00 PM.
Fordham/WFUV alum Ryan Ruocco will provide the play-by-play for three of the games, teaming with color analyst Jim Spanarkel. Another Fordham product, Chris Carrino, the radio voice of the Nets, will paint the word picture on the February 4 broadcast.
This is the third straight season that YES and Fordham will partner on broadcasting Rams men's basketball. Last season, YES Network televised Fordham's epic upset win over St. John's at a packed Rose Hill Gym.
"We are delighted that YES Network will bring sports fans and alumni in the Metropolitan area and throughout the country four Fordham home games from Rose Hill this season," said Fordham head men's basketball coach Tom Pecora. "With such a rich Bronx tradition, YES and Fordham are perfect partners. Last year's St. John's game telecast was a classic, and we hope to bring more of the same to the YES airwaves."
"We are pleased to bring these Fordham games to our viewers, especially with a Rams roster full of New York-area student-athletes," said Woody Freiman, vice president, production and programming, YES Network. "Coach Tom Pecora has enlivened the Fordham alumni and basketball fans throughout the region with his squad's continued improvement and success."
