The Fordham University women's basketball squad will look to improve to 5-2 on the road this season as the team travels to Dover, Delaware, to face the Delaware State University Lady Hornets in the Memorial Hall Gym on Wednesday, January 4, at 6:00 P.M. The Rams and the Lady Hornets will meet for the first time ever on Wednesday. However, Fordham has faced another MEAC opponent this season, having lost to Coppin State, 61-60, in the championship game of the Fordham Holiday Classic.
The Rams enter the contents after suffering a heartbreaking loss to Cornell, 40-39, on Monday in the Rose Hill Gym. In the game, Charlotte Stoddart led the Rams with 11 points while Becky Peters moved into seventh place in career starts and minutes.
Fordham enters the game with an 8-6 overall record and has three players averaging in double figures in scoring beginning with Becky Peters at 11.4 ppg. Abigail Corning is scoring 10.6 ppg and leads the team in three-point field goal percentage (.410), while Arielle Collins enters play averaging 10.9 ppg, leading the squad in assists (49) and steals (24).
The Lady Hornets enter the game with a 3-11 mark after losing their fourth straight, an 89-35 setback at the hands of #22/25 Texas on December 28. The team is led in scoring by Tierra Hawkins (13.4 ppg) followed by Tasia Barrow (13.0 ppg) and Deanna Harmon (7.8 ppg).
Following the Delaware State game, the Rams continue their three game road trip by opening up A-10 play with George Washington on Saturday, January 7, at 5:00 PM. The game will air live on the CBS Sports Network.
