Swimming and Diving Announces Signees For 2012-13 Incoming Class

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham head coach Steve Potsklan and the Rams' swimming and diving squad announced the signing of seven athletes today for 2012-13 season. The list includes Steve Sholdra (Renton, Wash./H.B. Education (Wash.)), Megan Gehrich (Canyon, Calif./Santa Margarita Catholic), Theresa Goehring (Essex, Conn./Mercy), Megan Gray (Stamford, Conn./Westhill), Chandler Lulley (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's), Shannon Lulley (Smithtown, N.Y./St. Anthony's) and Anna Marshall (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery).

Sholdra, the lone male swimmer of the early signing period, swam for two seasons with the Renton High School team as well as for the Bellevue Club Swim Team. A team captain and two-time All-League selection at Renton, he was a state champion in the 500 freestyle (All-America Consideration), setting the Washington State Boys' State Championship record in that event. For Bellevue, he finished 15th in the USA Swimming 2011 Nationals for the Open Water 5K Event, was a Summer and Winter USA Swimming Junior Nationals participant, and the Pacific Northwest Swimming Male Athlete of the Year. Sholdra was also a part of Bellevue's North America Challenge Cup Team, where he was named the 2011 Pacific Northwest Swimming Male Athlete of the Meet.

Megan Gehrich


At the recent 2011 December Short Course Championship, Sholdra posted Senior National Qualifying marks in the 500 and 1650 freestyle events, while registering Junior National Qualifiers in the 200 freestyle, 1000 freestyle and 200 butterfly events and being named High Point Male Athlete of the Meet. Away from the pool, he is a two-time Scholastic All-American Award recipient, and served as a U.S. Youth Ambassador to Qatar (2011) and as a Seattle Seafair Ambassador to Kobe, Japan. Sholdra has also received the U.S. Congressional Award, been named the Volunteer of the Year by the NW Burn Foundation, and serves as the Editor/Writer/Publisher of the Pacific Northwest Swimming Newsletter.

Theresa Goehring


Gehrich is a four-year varsity swimmer at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, where she was the 2011 Varsity Swimmer of the Year and an All-American in the 200 individual medley and 400 medley relay events. A three-time Academic All-American from 2009-11, she holds four school records (200 IM, 400 IM, 400 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay) and is a two-year captain. Gehrich also swims for the Mission Viejo Nadadores as a member of their National Team, where she is a Speedo U.S. Junior National Long Course Qualifier in the 200 and 400 individual medley.

Megan Gray


An individual medley and backstroke swimmer, Goehring is a four-year varsity swimmer at Mercy High School, where she was a 2011 All-American and four-time State Champion. She set six school records at Mercy, including the 100 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle, 200 medley relay, and the 200 and 400 freestyle relay events. A four-time MVP, she was named All-Area four times each by the New Haven Register and the Middletown Press, and is a six-time SCC Champion. Besides Mercy, Goehring also competes for the Cougar Aquatic Team in Haddam, Connecticut, where she broke two New England records, three team records, was a Winter National Qualifier in the 200 backstroke, and earned All-American honors. She was also an eight-time Connecticut State Champion and a Sectional "A" Finalist. Away from the pool, Goehring is a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the English and U.S. History Awards.

Chandler Lulley


Gray is a four-year varsity swimmer at Westhill High School, where she is a team captain. She is a two-time All-FCIAC selection, as well as being named MVP of the team twice. She holds the school record in the 100 butterfly event, and has been a Top 16 finalist each of the last three years at the FCIAC, Connecticut Class LL, and State Open High School Championships. Swimming for the Stamford Sharks club team, Gray is also a two-time Eastern Zone Speedo Champions Series Qualifier (2011-12). In addition to swimming, she is a four-year varsity lacrosse player and assistant captain at Westhill, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, MT Glee (Music Theatre of Connecticut's School of Performing Arts), and Westhill ACEP (Alliance for Cancer Education and Prevention).

Shannon Lulley


Chandler Lulley, the twin sister of fellow signee Shannon Lulley, is a four-year varsity swimmer and team captain at St. Anthony's High School. Competing in the freestyle and backstroke events, she is a three-time team MVP, All-League, and All-State selection. She holds school records in the 100 freestyle and the 200 and 400 freestyle relays. Lulley also swims club for Team Suffolk, where she has been a Sectional qualifier and a team record holder in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay events. In the classroom, she has received the Dons Scotus Academic Achievement Award and is a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society and the National Honor Society.

Anna Marshall


Shannon Lulley, twin sister of fellow signee Chandler Lulley, is also a four-year varsity swimmer and team captain at St. Anthony's High School. Swimming the butterfly, individual medley, and breaststroke events, she is a three-time team MVP and a four-time All-League and All-State selection. She set the school record in the 100 butterfly event, as well as in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. On top of her competitions at St. Anthony's, Lulley also swims club for Team Suffolk, where she has been a Sectional and Junior National qualifier. She has also set club records in the 200 medley, 200 freestyle, and 400 freestyle relay events. In the classroom, she has received the Dons Scotus Academic Achievement Award and is a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society.

Marshall is a four-year varsity swimmer from Montgomery High School, where she serves as team captain. A breaststroke swimmer, she has held the school record in the 100 breaststroke since the 2008-09 season, and helped Montgomery set the New Jersey State High School Record in the 200 medley relay in 2009. In addition, she was named to the All-America Interscholastic Team for the 200 medley relay in 2008-09, and received a Certificate of Recognition from the Board of Education as a 200 medley relay state champion. Marshall also swims for the X-Cel Swimming club, where she is a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-America selection (2009-10 & 2010-11). Away from the pool, she is a member of the honor roll and principal's honor roll.
