Men's Basketball Continues Atlantic 10 Schedule at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday at 7:00 PM

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Fordham University men's basketball team continues its Atlantic 10 season on Wednesday night in Philadelphia as the Rams take on the Saint Joseph's University Hawks at 7:00 PM in the Michael J. Fordham Game Notes

The Rams enter the game with a 7-8 overall record, 0-2 in the Atlantic 10, following a 67-59 conference loss to Xavier University last Saturday in the Rose Hill Gym. Saint Joseph's enters the game with an 11-4 overall record, 1-1 in the A-10, after a 57-52 conference loss to Charlotte in Philadelphia on Saturday.

On the court, Fordham is led by junior Chris Gaston, who leads the team in scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (11.3 rpg). He scored 16 points and grabbed a season-high 18 rebounds at Massachusetts on Thursday, his NCAA-leading 12th double-double of the year and the 48th of his career, and then finished with ten points and seven rebounds against Xavier on Saturday. His ten points against Xavier brings his career total to 1,194, placing him 19th on the Fordham all-time scoring list, 24 points behind Jason Harris (1997-201) for 18th place, while his seven rebounds bring his career total to 804, moving him ahead of Damon Lopez (1988-91) and into seventh place on the Fordham all-time rebounding list, three behind Darryl Brown (1972-75) for sixth.

Also leading the Rams will be freshman Bryan Smith, the Atlantic 10 C-Player of the Week. In three games last week, Smith averaged 16.0 ppg, shooting over 50% from behind the arc (11-21) while also recording five steals. His best game of the week came on Tuesday when the Rams upended #22/21 Harvard University, 60-54, in the Rose Hill Gym. Against the Crimson, Smith scored a season-high 22 points, shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 5-for-8 from long distance, and he recorded two steals.

Wednesday's game will be the 43rd meeting between the Rams and the Hawks on the hardwood with Saint Joseph's leading the all-time series, 27-16. The game between the two Jesuit schools is one of more than 90 games played this season as part of the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS). The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) project uses Jesuit basketball to raise awareness of Jesuit education (28 schools in US).
