Fordham Men's Golf Opening Tournament of the Fall Cancelled Due to Weather

Hamilton, N.Y. - The Fordham men's golf team was looking to open its fall season on Friday, September 9, by participating in the Colgate Invitational Golf tournament, but it was cancelled do to unplayable conditions on the course. The team will now open the autumn slate with Bucknell Fall Invitational on Friday September 16 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

The Colgate Invitational, which was being held at the Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton, New York, was officially rained out on Thursday. Colgate's head coach, Keith Tyburski, along with John McConville, Superintendant at the Seven Oaks, decided the course it too flooded to play. The area received over four inches of rain and more is expected throughout the weekend.

The Fordham golf team enters 2011 returning many key golfers including Jason Del Rosso, Brody Nieporte and team captain Devon O'Rourke. Coach Paul Dillon and the team compete in seven tournaments in the fall season, which lasts through the end of November.
