Fordham Men's Soccer Continues to Rank Amongst the Nation's Best

Sept. 27, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - The latest NCAA national rankings for men's soccer have been released and the Fordham men's team figures prominently in some of the categories. For the fifth straight week, the Rams are in the top 10 in the NSCAA regional rankings, as the team finds itself at number 7 in the Mid-Atlantic Region on the latest poll.

Topping the rankings for the region is Charlotte, who will visit Jack Coffey Field for a matchup on Sunday, October 23. Also ahead of the Rams on the list is Lehigh, whom Fordham defeated 1-0 earlier in the season.

For the team categories, the Rams continue to play stalwart defense as evidenced by the team's 19th ranking, nationally, in Shutout Percentage (0.57). The squad has posted four shutouts on the season. Also, they are ranked 24th across the land in Save Percentage (0.838), while coming in at 71st position in Saves Per Game (4.43). Sharing time in goal this season have been freshman Ricky Berotti and senior, Ryan Meara, both of whom contributed to these paltry numbers.

Individually, Meara is ranked in the top 10 in two areas. He is currently 6th in the country in Save Percentage, at 0.897 and trails Creighton's Brian Holt, who hasn't allowed a goal this season. Meara is also number 7 in Goals Against Average, as the keeper has surrendered an average of 0.474. He trails Holt in that category as well.

The team, currently 3-3-1 on the season, returns to action on Tuesday, September 27, when they travel to Uniondale, New York to face Hofstra University. The game time is slated for 7:00 P.M.
