Women's Soccer Downed by #21 Texas A&M

Sept. 18, 2011

Box Score

College Station, Texas - Heading into Sunday, the Fordham women's soccer team had only allowed one opponent to reach double figures in goals in team history. That changed to two today, as the 21st-ranked Texas A&M Aggies ousted the Rams, 13-1, at Ellis Field in College Station, Texas.

The loss drops Fordham back to the .500 mark at 4-4-1, while Texas A&M improved to 6-4-0.

The offensive explosion by the Aggies was the most goals allowed by Fordham in team history. The only other 10-goal game against the Rams came against Colgate in a 10-1 loss back in 1994.

The Aggies were led by Annie Kunz, who finished with three goals and two assists, while Kelley Monogue had three goals and an assist. Texas A&M had 15 players register at least one point in the contest.

The lone highlight for Fordham was freshman Kristina Maksuti scoring her team-best sixth goal of the season in the 79th minute. Maksuti drove up the middle, scoring to the top right corner of the net past Aggies' goalkeeper Jordan Day.

Rachel Suther and Ally White each played a half in net for Fordham with Suther making three saves in the first half and White grabbing six in the second half.

The Fordham women's soccer team will return to action on Sunday, September 25th, as the team begins a five-game homestand at Jack Coffey Field against Columbia University, beginning at 1:00 PM.
