Bronx, N.Y. - Following a game against Hartford that didn't count, the Fordham men's soccer team is set to finally open the 2011 season when it hosts Lehigh University on Wednesday night at Jack Coffey Field. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 P.M.

Fordham and Hartford did play nearly sixty minutes of action on Saturday, August 27, in West Hartford, Connecticut, before the game was called due to Hurricane Irene. In that contest the Rams led 2-1 on goals by Tim Richardson and John McHugh.

As for Lehigh, the Mountain Hawks opened their 2011 season last week in a double-overtime, scoreless draw against Stony Brook. Sophomore goalie Ciaran Nugent was named Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for his effort.

The Rams and Mountain Hawks met in 2010 at Lehigh. Fordham won that game, 1-0 on a goal by Doug Hanly off a feed from Julian Nagel. In that contest, Ryan Meara made seven saves.

Following the game with Lehigh, Fordham embarks on a four-game road trip. The first game away from the Bronx is a battle with fellow Jesuit School, Creighton University, on Friday, September 9 at 8:00 P.M. The next home game is against Marist College on Wednesday, September 21 at 7:00 P.M.
