Men's Soccer Season Opener With Hartford Ruled a No-Contest

Aug. 27, 2011

West Hartford, Conn. - Mother Nature scored the game-winning goal between Fordham and Hartford on Saturday, August 27, as they two teams set to face each other in the season opener from West Hartford, Connecticut. In the end, nearly 60 minutes of action was played before the game was ruled a no contest due to Hurricane Irene.

The game, originally slated for a 7:00 PM start, was pushed back to 1:00 PM, in the hopes of sneaking the match in before the storm. The game started on time and play made it up to the 59:14 mark, before it was halted and called a no contest by the officials, Erick Forrest, Mark Allatin and Mike Solla. The no contest means nothing counts and it's as if the game never happened.

The Rams had a 2-1 lead when play stopped as Tim Richardson and John McHugh each found the net off headers in the first half. Richardson's goal came off a Nathanial Bekoe assist and the McHugh tally came off a helper from Michael Valencia. However, none of the records count because the no contest ruling means the game never took place.

The men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday, August 31, when they open up the home portion of the schedule against Lehigh. The game time is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
