Fordham Women's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule

2011-12 Non-Conference Schedule

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham women's basketball, led by first-year Head Coach Stephanie Gaitleyhas released the non-conference portion of the 2011-2012 women's basketball schedule on Friday. The Rams will be hosting the Fordham Holiday Tournament for the fifth straight season.

The Rams open the regular season on Friday, November 11, when they host the Albany Great Danes out of the America East Conference. Fordham also faces Hartford, Stony Brook, and Boston University out of the America East. The game at Stony Brook is Sunday, December 11 and the Terriers come to Rose Hill as part of the Fordham Holiday Classic, beginning on Thursday, December 29. The game with Hartford will be part of the Central Florida Tournament on November 25 and 26. Fordham also faces Horizon League member, Cleveland State on Wednesday, November 16 at home, and the Rams could possibly meet TCU on the second day of the UCF Tournament. Fordham travels to Worcester, Massachusetts for a game against fellow Jesuit school, Holy Cross, on November 19. Closing out the month, the Rams renew their annual "Battle of the Bronx" with Manhattan College. This year's contest, the 43rd overall, will be at Draddy Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 30.

The Rams open December by welcoming San Diego, from the West Coast Conference, into the Rose Hill Gym on Saturday the third. From there, it's a short trip to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to face the second, of three Patriot League schools on the schedule, Bucknell, on Tuesday, December 6. Two days later, Fordham faces its only Big East opponent of the season with a trip over the George Washington Bridge to face Rutgers. Before Christmas, the Rams host Winthrop of an afternoon matinee on Saturday, December 17.

The fifth-consecutive Fordham Holiday Tournament will feature the Rams welcoming in Navy, Boston University and the Coppin State Eagles for a set of games on Thursday and Friday, December 29 and 30. The Holiday Tournament began in 2008 and in the most recent Tournament; Fordham defeated Yale in the opening game and lost to Siena.

Fordham welcomes in 2012 with a game against Cornell on Monday, January 2. From there, the final non-conference match-up is against Delaware State in Dover on January 4th.
