Centerville, Mass. -
Following a record-setting season, Fordham's Jocelyn Dearborn captured her final softball accolades on Wednesday, as she headlined the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Softball All-Star Team. She received both the ECAC Softball Player of the Year Award and First Team All-Star status, while teammate Jen Mineau was selected as an ECAC Second Team All-Star. The coaches, or his/her designee, within the ECAC membership voted on the teams and individual awards.
A senior third baseman, Dearborn adds the ECAC Player of the Year award to an already loaded trophy case that features the 2011 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year award, which she received back in May.
Dearborn batted .350 this season with 16 home runs, 11 doubles, eight triples, and 44 RBI in 61 games, leading the Rams to their first Atlantic 10 Championship and second consecutive NCAA Championship berth. She was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association/Louisville Slugger Mid-Atlantic Region First Team for the second straight season, posting a slugging percentage of .725 and an on-base percentage of .407. She set or tied four single season school records in 2011, while also becoming the Rams' career leader in games played, hits, RBI, home runs, doubles and total bases.
Like Dearborn, Mineau picks up her final accolade to a wonderful 2011 season, which saw her become a two-time NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-American, a two-time Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year for softball, and Third Team Capital One Academic All-America®.
She was the 2011 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Player at this year's championship, as the Rams won their first tournament title, following three complete game shutouts by Mineau. Mineau finished the season with a 24-9 record to go with four saves, a 1.22 ERA, 15 shutouts, two no-hitters, and 300 strikeouts in 224.2 innings pitched. In just three seasons, she became Fordham's career leader in complete games, wins, strikeouts, and shutouts.
