CitySquash Ride Across America

Bronx, N.Y. -

While most college students are working summer jobs or relaxing at the beach, Fordham University head squash coach Bryan Patterson and three member of his team: Raymond Chen, Andriy Kulak and Jack O'Brien will be getting a unique perspective of the United States. The four will be part of a team that will bike across the country to raise funds for the CitySquash program.

CitySquash is a not-for-profit after-school enrichment program based in the Bronx at Fordham University. The organization helps motivated and talented young people from economically disadvantaged households in the Bronx fulfill their academic, athletic and personal potential. Founded in 2002, CitySquash will serve over 130 elementary, middle, high school and college students in the 2010-2011 year.

The bike ride will start in San Francisco on June 6th and plans are for it to end in the Bronx on July 9th. The goal is to raise $100,000 for the City Squash program.

Joining Patterson and the three Fordham players will be two members of the CitySquash program, Felipe Pantle, a tenth grader, and Angel Maldonado, a ninth grader, who will ride as a relay.

"The team is counting the days until we depart for San Francisco," said Patterson. "The entire team knows that this will be a tough and grueling, yet rewarding, journey. I hope that people will support this incredible endeavor in one way or another and am looking forward to seeing everyone at the coming home party."
