Jen Mineau Named NFCA Division I Co-National Player of the Week

May 3, 2011

Starkville, Miss. - Fordham softball pitcher, Jen Mineau, was named Division I Co-National Player of the Week, it was announced today, Tuesday, May 3, by the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association. She shares the honor with Tennessee's Raven Chavanne.

The junior posted a 5-0 mark last week and allowed no runs off of just 10 hits allowed. She walked four and struck out 49, which translated to a better-than 12:1 strikeouts to walks ratio.

The highlight of her week came against St. Peter's on April 27. In the second game against the Peahens, she threw her fourth-career perfect game, and her seventh no-hitter. St. Peter's never hit a ball out of the infield.

For the week, she posted a perfect 5-0 record, all shutouts. She also held opponents to an .093 batting average for the week. This is the second national award for Mineau this season, as she was named the ECAC Pitcher of Week on April 10.

Prior to the start of the 2011 campaign, Mineau was named a Softball Pre-Season All-America, First Team honoree by ESPN.com. She joins Massachusetts' pitcher Sara Plourde as the only other Atlantic 10 player to win a national player of the week award.
