Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham softball team gathered as a single unit, once again, in Dagger John's on Sunday, May 15, to watch the 2011 NCAA Softball Selection Show, and for the second year in a row, the Rams saw their name appear on the screen, this time as the Atlantic 10 Champions. Fordham will be heading to University Park, Pennsylvania where they will meet the host school, Penn State, beginning on Friday, May 20 at a still unannounced time. The other schools in the regional are 13th seeded Oregon and Albany.

Fordham earned its way into the NCAA Championship by winning the A-10 Championship on Saturday, May 14. In 2010, the Rams earned an at-large invitation to the tournament and were sent to the College Park Regional where they were eliminated by Oklahoma.

Fordham has won seven games against opponents that are also appearing in the Championship. They defeated Texas, Syracuse, DePaul, Indiana, Lehigh (twice) and Iona. The Rams enter the game with a 41-17 overall mark and have won 10 in a row including a perfect 3-0 performance at the recent A-10 championships.

The winner of the University Park Regional faces a team out of the Gainesville Regional. The teams in that region include host Florida, Bethune-Cookman, UCLA and Jacksonville.
