Rowing Places Fourth at ECAC Metro Championships

The Fordham crew participated at the 2011 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic/New England (MANE) Regional Rowing Championships today at Mercer Lake where the Rams placed fourth overall with 26 points. In the Director's Cup competition, Fordham tied for third with George Washington.

Nay won the overall team title with 51 points followed by Delaware (40), Colgate (27), Fordham (26) and George Washington (25). In the Director's Cup results, Navy won with 32 points followed by Delaware (23) with Fordham and George Washington tying for third (14) and Colgate in fifth (13).

In the Varsity 9 race Navy was first across in the line in a time of 7:02.46 followed by Delaware (7:06.82). Colgate edged out Fordham for third, crossing in 7:08.22, just 0.59 seconds ahead of the Rams who turned in a time of 7:08.81 while George Washington was fifth (7:13.06).

Fordham also placed fourth in the second Varsity 8 and the Novice 8 while finishing sixth in the Varsity 4.

Navy won the second Varsity 8 in 7:10.52 with George Washington in second (7:13.29), Delaware third (7:15.36) and the Rams fourth (7:30.02).

In the Novice 8 Delaware was first across the line (7:34.91) followed by Colgate (7:44.74), Navy (7:58.16) and Fordham (8:08.14).

The Varsity 4 had seven entries and was won by the Navy A boat in 7:58.90. Colgate placed second (8:08.83) followed by Delaware (8:18.20), Navy B (8:20.89), George Washington B (8:33.28), Fordham (8:45.09) and George Washington A (8:51.39).

The Fordham crew will return to action on May 13th and 14th as they compete at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia.
