The Fordham golf team is competing in the New England Division I Championship hosted by Brown University on Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10. After completion of competition on day one, the Rams are sitting in third position out of 13 teams. The event is being held at the par 72, Newport National Country Club from Middletown, Rhode Island.
The leading school, Sacred Heart, posted a 295 after round one. The Rams put up a score of 301, which is one stroke behind the second place team from the University of Rhode Island.
Five Fordham golfers are competing in the tournament. The best round for the Rams went to sophomore Jason Del Rosso with a 74. His classmate, Brody Nieporte had the second best round of the day for the Rams with a 75. Both Connor Monaghan and Devon O'Rourke were four over par at 76. Rounding out the scoring for Fordham was Ryan Donahue with a 78.
The second and final day of competition at the New England Division I Championship gets underway early on Sunday, April 10.
