Kingston, R.I. -
The Fordham softball team closes out the Atlantic 10 portion of its schedule with a doubleheader against Rhode Island on Sunday, May 1, in Kingston. The twinbill gets underway at noon.
The Rams have spent the entire weekend in New England, and, coming off an important series with Massachusetts, Fordham is hoping to maintain its success against the Rams. Against the Minutewomen, key hitting from Chelsea Palumbo and strong pitching from All-American Jen Mineau helped Fordham compete with UMass. The Rams look to continue their recent success against Rhode Island, as Fordham swept both games from them in the Bronx in 2010.
Following the series with Rhode Island, the Rams were originally slated to close out the season with a rematch against Iona on Tuesday, May 3, in New Rochelle. That game had to be postponed due to a scheduling conflict for the Gaels and no make up date has been announced. The Rams are looking for another team to place it its stead and if no opponent can be found, Fordham will next see action in the Atlantic 10 Championship, which begins May 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Final pairings for the tournament are yet to be decided.
