The Fordham Rams' golf team completed its 2011 regular season campaign with a tenth place finish out of ten teams, at the 2011 Peacock Invitational, hosted by St. Peter's College, from the Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Valley, New Jersey. Sophomore Nick Polvino led the Rams with a 79.
Polvino, who is from the Garden State, finished in a tied for 15th place with his seven-over-par score. Pat Herlihy finished one strike behind him, shooting an 80 and finishing in a tie for 19th position. They were the only two Rams to finish in the top 20. The third Fordham golfer to place was Matt Cooper, who shot an 86 and tied for 49th. Next was Brandon Nolan, who shot an 88 and finished tied for 53rd. Finally, the last golfer to contribute to the team score was Nik Andresen, who shot an 89 and finished in 55th position. As a team, Fordham scored 333 and the winning team was Lafayette, who shot a 308.
There were two other Rams golfers who competed individually, but didn't contribute to the team score. Bobby Thompson had a strong day, as he finished in a tie for 19th by shooting an 80. One stroke behind him, in a tie for 24th, was Crispin Love, Jr., who shot an 81.
Up next for the Fordham golf team is the Atlantic 10 Championships, which begin on Friday, April 29, at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Hewy-In-The-Hills, Florida. The tournament concludes on Sunday, May 1.
