The Fordham track & field team finished its two-day stint with a very long day at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Princeton University. Day two saw the Rams post six top ten finishes, once again led by senior Kerri Gallagher.
One day after posting an NCAA Regional qualifying time in the 1,500 meters, Gallagher rebounded on day two to finish second overall in the 800 meter run in 2:11.81.
In the men's 800 meters, Fordham had three runners place in the top 14 finishers. Brian Walter took fifth place in a personal-best time of 1:53.79, while Ryan Polo won his heat of the 800 meters, taking eighth overall in 1:54.18. John Cosgrove rounded out the trio in 14th in 1:55.13.
In the men's 400 meters, Fordham had two runners place in the top 15, led by Sean Atkinson in 10th in a time of 49.09 seconds, while Brian Schmidt took 15th in 49.29 seconds. On the women's side, Elisabeth Warren posted her best time of the season in the 400 meters at 58.85 seconds, good for 25th, while she also took 16th in the long jump with a mark of 16' 5 ¾".
Fordham's also top ten finishes came in the women's javelin throw and the women's 4x100 relay. Blair Hassell took ninth in the javelin with a throw of 126' 6", while the team of Warren, Titi Fagade, Averie Sheppard, and Sherilyn Groeninger placed 10th in a time of 49.35 seconds.
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on April 28-30, as the team competes at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
