Round One Scores

Portsmouth, R.I. - The final day of the URI Spring Invitational from the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, was washed out due to rain. Since no scores were tabulated on Saturday, final standings were determined based on the day one finishes from Friday.

In the opening round Fordham came in at eighth position out of 11, and that is where they finished. Jason Del Rosso came in sixth place with a two-over par 73. Connor Monaghan was the next Rams golfer to finish, as he shot a 76, good for a share of twenty-first position. Monaghan also made three birdies in his round.

The third finisher for Fordham was junior captain, Devon O'Rouke. He shot a seven-over 78, which put him in a tie for 27th place. After O'Rourke came Brody Nieporte, who shot an 81 and completed the first round in a tie for fortieth place. The final Rams competitor was Ryan Donahue. Donahue shot an 86 and finished in 52 place.

Temple University won the tournament after shooting a combined 295. They came in four strokes ahead of the Rhode Island B team. Anthony Kim of Army won the individual competition with a two-under sixty-nine.

The Fordham golf team closes out the 2011 campaign on Tuesday, April 26, when they compete at the Ninth Annual Peacock Invitational from Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station, New Jersey. The team tees off at 10:00 A.M.
