Fordham Golf Sits in 8th Place out of 11 teams After Day One of URI Invitational

Portsmouth, R.I. - The Fordham golf team sits in eighth place, out of 11 teams, after day one of the URI Northeast Invitational from Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. As a team, the Rams shot a 308 and sit even with fellow Jesuit school, Canisius, in eighth place.

Among the individual golfers for Fordham, Jason Rosso shot a two-over par 73, which put him in sixth position after the first round. Connor Monaghan was the next Rams golfer to finish, as he shot a 76, good for a share of twenty-first position. Monaghan also made three birdies in the round.

The third finisher for Fordham was junior captain, Devon O'Rouke. He shot a seven-over 78, which put him in a tie for 27th place. After O'Rourke came Brody Nieporte, who shot an 81 and completed the first round in a tie for fortieth place. The final Rams competitor was Ryan Donahue. Donahue shot an 86 and currently sits all alone in 52 place.

After the first round, Temple University sits in first place after shooting a combined 295. They are four strokes ahead of the Rhode Island B team. Anthony Kim of Army leads all the golfers with a two-under sixty-nine.

Day two of the URI Northeast Invitational gets underway on Saturday, April 23 at 8:00 A.M. The Rams look to improve on their current eighth position.
