Fordham Finishes 2nd Overall at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational

Littletown, Pa. - The damp and dreary conditions on the golf course didn't damper the strong play of the Fordham golf team as they paced to a second place team finish at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational from the Quail Valley Golf Club in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. The second place finish (out of nine teams) was the best finish so far in the spring for the Rams.

Fordham shot a combined, three-round score of 898, falling just two strokes behind thewinners, Monmouth College, who finished with 896. Leading the Rams in scoring once gain was Jason Del Rosso, who shot a third-round score of 75 to finish at 216 for the tournament, which is even par. For his efforts, Del Rosso came in third for the individual placements.

The lowest round of the day for the Rams went to Connor Monaghan, who shot a two-over 74, which gave him a three-round total of 221, which put him in a tie for sixth place. The next Fordham finisher was team captain, Devon O'Rourke, who shot a third round score of 77 (+5), and a three-round stroke total of 228. Rounding out the team scoring for the Rams were Brody Nieporte and Ryan Donahue. Nieporte shot a 79 for a three-round score of 233; while Donahue posted an 84, to total 245 strokes for the championship. Nieporte finished in a tieh for 18th, and Donahue came in tied for 37th.

Two other Rams finished in the individual standings, but didn't compete in the team scores. Nick Polvino shot an 80 for the third round, giving him a total of 238 and tying him for 26th place. The final Fordham competitor was Pat Herlihy. Herlihy shot a final-round 87 for a three-round total of 244. He finished in 36th position.

The Fordham golf team returns to action on Friday, April 22, when it travels to Portsmouth, Rhode Island to compete at the URI Northeast Invitational at the Green Valley Country Club. Action gets underway early in the morning.
