Newport News, Va. -
Fordham softball teammates Jocelyn Dearborn and Jen Mineau have been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively; it was announced by the league office on Monday, April 11. This is the second time Dearborn has won the award and the third time this season Mineau earned the accolade.
Dearborn, a senior third baseman on the team, posted unbelievable numbers for the week. In five games, she hit .583. She laced three home runs, drove in seven RBI, scored eight runs and was a perfect 2-2 on stolen base attempts. Even more impressive, she posted an impressive 1.583 slugging percentage for the week. In the first game of a doubleheader against La Salle, she went 3-3 with a double and a triple and two RBI. Her encore performance in the second game saw her go 2-3 with two runs scored, a home run and three RBI.
Not to be outdone, Mineau's output in the circle was nothing short of masterful. She had three starts for the week and didn't allow a run. She threw a 3-0 no-hitter against George Washington on Friday and followed that up with a one-hitter against La Salle on Sunday. For the entire week, she walked two and struck out 30; which translates to a 15-1 walk to strikeout ratio. She picked up two wins and one no decision.
The team returns to action on Wednesday, April 13, when they travel to Stony Brook, New York to face the Seawolves. The Rams return to A-10 play on Friday, April 15, when they go to Charlotte, North Carolina to face the 49ers.
