Final Standings

The Fordham golf team maintained its stranglehold on third place in the New England Division I Championship hosted by Brown University at the Newport National Country Club in Middletown, Rhode Island. The Rams finished day one in third position and stayed there at the conclusion of the tournament. Sophomore Jason Del Rosso shot a round-best 71 (one under par) to help the Rams finish third.
The team shot a 299 combined score on day two, which gave them a two-day total of 600, finishing eight points behind Sacred Heart (592) and 10 strokes shy of the winning team, Central Connecticut (590). The Rams improved on their day one score of 301.
Del Rosso led the squad with a 71. Combined with his first round, 74, he shot 145 for the championship. Freshman Ryan Donahue was the second best finisher for Fordham with a 151, which was second overall. His two rounds were a 78 and a 73 and he tied for 12th individually. The next golfer to come in for the Rams was Connor Monaghan. He shot a 76 (+4) for both rounds and posted a total of 152, good for 16th place. After Monaghan came Brody Nieporte at 154. He shot 75 and a 79 and finished in 23rd position. Rounding out the Rams was captain Devon O'Rourke, whose two rounds of 76 and 79 led to a final score of 155, which put him in26th position.
All five Rams finished in the top 30 en route to the third place finish. The team returns to action on Monday, April 18, when they compete in the Mt. St. Mary's Spring Invitational from Quail Valley Golf Club in Littlestown, Pennsylvania.
