108 Fordham Student-Athletes named to 2010 Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall

Bronx, N.Y. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced the Commissioner's Honor Roll for the Fall 2010 semester. A total of 1,296 student-athletes were recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the fall semester, including 108 from Fordham. Of the 108, 14 are members of the women's track/cross country program.

To be listed on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport must have a 3.5 GPA or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the specified semester. Freshmen are eligible to receive the award.

The 108 Fordham student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll is third best among all Atlantic 10 schools. La Salle led the conference with 124 student-athletes on the list while Massachusetts had 113. Fordham also led all Atlantic 10 Jesuit schools with the 108 total, followed by Saint Louis (89), Xavier (83) and Saint Joseph's (75).

By sport men's track and field/cross country leads the way with 19 members named to the Honor Roll followed by women's track and field/cross country (14), rowing (11), and women's swimming and diving (10). Women's soccer and men's soccer each had eight players on the list while volleyball had seven and men's swimming, softball and men's tennis each had six. Golf (5), baseball (4), women's tennis (3) and women's basketball (1) were also represented on the Honor Roll.

"The commitment from each of these student-athletes in pursuing excellence in the classroom and during competition is a great representation of their institution and the Atlantic 10 Conference," stated Atlantic 10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade.
