Fordham Head Women's Basketball Coach Cathy Andruzzi Will Not Return in 2011-12

March 8, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University Executive Director of Athletics Frank McLaughlin announced today that head women's basketball coach Cathy Andruzzi has decided to pursue other interests and will not return for the 2011-12 season.

"We really appreciate Cathy's efforts at Fordham," said McLaughlin. "She is a tireless coach who worked extremely hard to elevate the women's basketball program in the very competitive Atlantic 10 conference. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors."

Andruzzi just completed her fifth season at Fordham, leading the Rams to a 12-19 overall record, 4-10 in the Atlantic 10. Fordham advanced to its second straight A-10 Championship appearance this winter where the Rams closed out the season with a 48-41 loss to St. Bonaventure on Friday.

"I am grateful to the Fordham community for giving me the opportunity to coach and bring pride back into the women's basketball program," said Andruzzi. "I would like to thank the alumni who supported our program during my tenure. While I took over a program during a trying time, we created a solid foundation which will lead to continued success. I wish the Fordham women's basketball student-athletes much academic and athletic success."

A national search for a replacement will begin immediately. Former Atlantic 10 Commissioner Linda Bruno will assist Fordham in the search.
