Members of the Fordham University men's and women's track and field squads competed on day one of IC4A/ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Saturday with Kerri Gallagher and the men's 4x800 relay qualifying for Sunday's finals.

Gallagher placed second in her heat, and second overall, in qualifying for the finals of the ECAC 800m, clocking a 2:08.79, just 0.31 seconds behind the winner of her heat, Samantha Adelberg of Brown. Gallagher, who the 1000m and the mile at the 2011 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships while setting A-10 records in both, won the 1000m at last year's ECAC Indoor Championship.

The men's 4x800 relay of John Cosgrove, Brian Walter, Ryan Polo and Brian Schmidt also qualified for Sunday's finals, placing second in their heat and fourth overall in a season-best time of 7:31.26.

Other men who competed at the IC4A Championships included Sean Atkinson, who placed second in his heat and 14th overall in the 400m in a time of 48.22, just 0.11 seconds off of Marc Porcaro's 2004 record of 48.11. Brian Schmidt ran in the 800m, taking third in his heat and 28th overall in a time of 1:52.88, Kevin Fitzgerald was fourth in his heat and 13th overall in the 1000m in a season-best time of 2:27.11, and Julian Saad was seventh in his heat and 16th overall in the 3000m in a season-best time of 8:22.59.

In men's relays, the distance medley relay of Thomas Kelly, Sam Houston, Tim Hutchinson and Michael Belgiovine placed seventh in their heat and 19th overall in 10:12.78.

Also competing for the women was Anisa Arsenault, who placed 14th in the 5000m in a time of 17:34.66.

Besides Gallagher and the men's 4x800 relay, the women's distance medley relay will also compete in the finals on Sunday.
