Newport News, Va. - Fordham University freshman pitcher Chris Pike (Watermill, N.Y./Southampton) was named Atlantic 10 Baseball Rookie of the Week, today by the conference office. It is his first career weekly honor.

Pike made his first career start against La Salle on March 26, pitching a complete-game six-hitter with a season-high 10 strikeouts. The freshman pitcher retired La Salle's final 16 batters in order as Fordham secured the 5-3 victory over the Explorers.

With the win, Pike improved to 3-0 on the season, which is tied for the team lead in wins, while posting a team-high 36 strikeouts in 33.0 innings pitched. He also leads the squad with three saves and is second on the team with a 1.91 ERA.

Pike and the rest of the Fordham baseball team (14-9) will next be in action on Tuesday, March 29th, when they travel to Fairfield, Connecticut, for a 3:30 PM start against the Fairfield Stags.
