2010 Men's Water Polo All-Academic Team Released by the ACWPC

March 23, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) announced the 2010 Men's All-Academic and Team Academic awards this week. Over 240 student-athletes were listed on the All-Academic team, which honors students with a 3.2 GPA or higher.

"This award is a true testament of the dedication that our coaches and athletes have toward the academic institutions that they represent. Congratulations to all athletes and coaches on a job well done. This is an amazing feat as a great majority of all water polo programs have representation in some way on this awards list," said Bryan Kimbell, the Executive Director of the ACWPC.

Fordham had seven student-athletes listed as an All-Academic Award winner, just a week after the release of the 2010 CWPA Scholar-Athlete Team.

The athletes were honored with Outstanding (3.71-4.0), Superior (3.41-3.7), or Excellent (3.2-3.4) recognition.

Fordham's Ali Arat, Martin de Jong, and Mark Connor earned Outstanding status, Robert Fleming was listed in the Superior category, with Cashel Barnett, Mikey Edwards, and Christian Flessner being in the Excellent listing

Brown University topped the team grade point average race for a third year in a row, leading 22 programs, which included Fordham, on the Team Academic Award list.
