Fordham's Jocelyn Dearborn Named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week

Newport News, Va. - Fordham's senior infielder Jocelyn Dearborn was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday, March 14 from the league office. This is the first such award for Dearborn this season.

The senior had an astonishing week at the plate in the Cavalier Classic. Over the four games in the tournament, she hit a total of five home runs; including two multiple home run games. The infielder from New Milford, Pennsylvania posted a .563 batting average for the week on 9-16 hitting. Dearborn also collected 25 total bases She racked up an astounding 1.563 slugging percentage, had at least two hits in all of the games and hit a walk-off home run to defeat #25 Syracuse, 4-3 in eighth inning of the game on Saturday, March 12. The win over the Orange was the third Fordham victory over a ranked opponent this season.

So far on the season, Dearborn leads the Rams in batting average (.358), home runs (5), RBI (14) and slugging percentage (.667). She is also a perfect 4-4 in stolen base attempts this year.

Dearborn and the Rams return to action on Wednesday, March 16, when they travel to College Park, Maryland to face the Maryland Terrapins. Fordham picked up its first ever, NCAA Championship wins in 2010 against these same Terrapins. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 P.M.
