Fordham Softball To Participate in the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Virginia

Bronx, N.Y. - The Fordham softball team travels to Charlottesville, Virginia to Participate in the Cavalier Classic, hosted by the University of Virginia. The Rams enter the tournament with a 9-10 overall record.

In the Classic, the Rams face three other schools. They open with two games on Saturday, March 12. The first game is against Princeton at 2:00 P.M., followed by a game at 4:00 P.M. against Syracuse. On Sunday, Fordham faces the hosts, Virginia at 11:30 A.M. and the Tigers again at 4:30 P.M. The Rams conclude the tournament on Monday, March, 14, when the face the Cavaliers for the second time.

Recently, junior All-American pitcher, Jen Mineau, was named the Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week. She is leading the Rams with five wins and a 1.45 ERA. Offensively, Fordham is paced by senior Jocelyn Dearborn. The infielder is currently second on the team in hitting at .306. She leads the team in triples (3) and is tied for the team lead in doubles (3) and RBI (7).

Following the tournament, the Rams make a slight detour on their return trip to the Bronx, as they stop by College Park, Maryland to face the Terrapins. Fordham defeated Maryland last year in the 2010 NCAA Softball Championship to record the first-ever NCAA Championship win for the Rams.

Fordham opens up at home on Wednesday, March 30, when they face former Patriot League for, Lehigh in a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
