Newport News, Va. -
Fordham University senior Kerri Gallagher (Belle Harbor, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) earned her third Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Performer of the Week honor on Monday, it was announced by the league office.
Gallagher competed only once this week, but made it count at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, held at the Armory Track & Field Center. Against runners from Connecticut, BYU, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Baylor, Georgetown, and Duke, she placed sixth overall in the women's 800 meter championship run in a school record time of 2:07.61.
She was bested by only Connecticut's Heather Wilson, BYU's Katie Palmer and Lacey Bleazard, LSU's Brittany Hall, and Tennessee's Chanelle Price.
Gallagher toppled Lauren Gubicza's 1992 school record of 2:10.76, by over three seconds.
Gallagher and the rest of the Fordham track & field teams will next be in action on February 11-12, as they compete at the Valentine Day's Classic, hosted by Boston University.
