Fordham's Megan McGorry and Shintaro Noguchi Earn Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Awards

Newport News, Va. - Fordham University senior swimmer Megan McGorry (West Haven, Conn./West Haven) and freshman swimmer Shintaro Noguchi (Tiburon, Calif./Redwood) both earned Atlantic 10 weekly honors this week, it was announced by the league office today. McGorry was named Women's Performer of the Week for the first time in her career, while Noguchi received the Men's Rookie of the Week award for the fourth time.

McGorry set a new school record and three season-best times as the Rams beat the Minutewomen 183-111 on Saturday. She broke her own school record in the 1,000-yard freestyle event, recording a time of 10:13.17, breaking the old mark of 10:13.42.

She also won the 500-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 5:02.99 and earned fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke in a team-best time of 1:10.54.

Noguchi was a part of three of the Rams' five wins against the Minutemen. He took first in the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 1:42.85 and captured the 100-yard butterfly in 51.30 seconds. He was also a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay teams, which earned first (1:25.31) and second (1:34.84), respectively.

McGorry, Noguchi, and the rest of the Fordham swimming & diving teams will next be in action on Wednesday, February 9th, when the team hosts St. Francis (NY) College for Senior Day, beginning at 6:00 PM.
