Track & Field Competes at Giegengack Invitational

New Haven, Conn. - While some track & field athletes were at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational, the rest of the squad was at the Giegengack Invitational, hosted by Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The Rams posted 11 top ten finishes at the meet, as well as three season-best performances.

The Rams top finisher in the men's competition was Julian Saad, who placed third in the 3,000 meter run in a season-best time of 8:25.57, while Sean Atkinson was seventh in the 400 meter dash in 50.09 seconds.

Other top performance in the men's running events came from Brian Walter in the 1000 meters, placing 10th in 2:30.33, Ryan Polo in the mile run, taking 11th in a season-best time of 4:16.65, and Daniel Chediak in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing ninth in 8.63 seconds.

In the men's field events, Ken Baron and Pat Brown both placed seventh in their respective events, as Baron cleared 14' 3 ¼" in the pole vault, while Brown had a mark of 50' 3 ½" in the weight throw. Keegan Talty also placed in the top ten in the pole vault, clearing 13' 9 ¼", with Aaron Mays taking ninth in the triple jump with a mark of 40' 7 ¾".

In the women's running events, Anisa Arsenault had the top performance, finishing fourth overall in the mile run in a personal-best time of 5:05.35 Sherilyn Groeninger had the next best finish, placing seventh overall in the 60 meter dash in 8.01 seconds, with Elisabeth Warren taking ninth in the 400 meters in a season-best time of 59.30 seconds.

Other strong runs by the Rams included Ashley Davis in the 1000 meters, placing 12th in a time of 3:00.39, with Averie Sheppard taking 13th in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.56 seconds.

The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on February 11-12, at the Valentine's Day Classic, hosted by Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts.
