The Fordham squash team concluded its 2010-11 season this weekend at the CSA Team Championship, hosted at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Rams finished in 7th place in the Serues Cup (F Division) and rated 47th overall, which is up eight spots from last year.
Fordham began the weekend with an opening round match-up with Lehigh, where Lehigh snagged a 6-3 win over the Rams. Colin Corbett, Raymond Chen, and Chris Souther picked up individual match wins for Fordham at the first, seventh, and eighth slots.
The loss put Fordham into the consolation bracket against Drexel, where again the Rams fell by a 6-3 count. Chen improved to 2-0 in the Championship with another seventh slot win, while Ken Fukumoto (6th) and Andriy Kulak (2nd) also picked up victories for Fordham.
The Rams played their final match against Swarthmore in the seventh place game, where Fordham picked up a 6-3 victory. Fordham won each match from the third to the eighth slot.
Chen completed a 3-0 weekend with a victory at the seventh slot, while Fukumoto, Souther, Andrew Grosner, and Jack O'Brien were also victorious. The match of the day though belonged to Fordham's Eli Plangger, as he rallied from two sets down to win in five.
