Former Fordham Baseball Player Mike Mobbs Signs With the Normal Cornbelters of the Frontier League

Normal, Ill. - The Normal Cornbelters, based in Normal, Illinois, announced the signing of former Fordham outfielder Mike Mobbs to a contract for the 2011 Frontier League season, it was announced this week.

The Cornbelters play in the West Division of the Frontier League, which is an independent professional league which has been in existence since 1992.

"It's amazing to get paid to do what I love. The dream came true," said Mobbs, following his signing.

Mobbs just wrapped up his Fordham career this past spring, helping the Rams to the Atlantic 10 Championship tournament for the third time in his four years at Rose Hill. He had his best overall season in 2010, posting a .287 batting average to go with career-highs in hits (62), runs scored (44), doubles (13), triples (3), home runs (3), and RBI (24).

Over his career, Mobbs ranks 15th all-time in games played at Fordham with 179. He accumulated a .269 career batting average to go with 115 runs scored, 153 hits, 33 doubles, 10 home runs, 69 RBI, and 28 stolen bases.
