Boston, Mass. - A fantastic week for the Fordham track & field teams ended in style with two school records on Saturday at the Valentine's Day Classic in Boston. In addition to the school records, the Rams had a total of six more qualifiers for the ECAC/IC4A Championship in March.

The day began with the final women's event of the competition, the women's distance medley relay. Fordham made that last event count, setting a new school record. The team of Kerri Gallagher, Elisabeth Warren, Kelly Connolly, and Anisa Arsenault finished fourth overall in a school record time of 11:51.51, while also qualifying for the ECAC Championship. The previous mark was 11:53.9, set in 1991 by Karen Cloran, Toni Agard, Kim Reilly, and Lauren Gubicza.

It was then on to the men's competition, beginning with the 400 meter dash. Sean Atkinson posted his best performance of the season, qualifying for the IC4A Championship in 48.74 seconds, good for 16th overall.

Then in the 500 meter run, Michael Bongiorno and Nick Delligatti both qualified for the IC4A Championship with both posting top ten performances. Bongiorno finished eighth overall in 1:04.56, while Delligatti was tenth in 1:04.66.

The Rams would have another pair of IC4A qualifiers in the 1,000 meter run. Ryan Polo placed seventh overall in a season-best time of 2:27.91, while Brian Walter was 17th overall in 2:29.09. Tom Kelly also competed in the 1,000 meters, taking 30th overall in his best time of the season at 2:30.76.

Fordham had four competitors in the mile run, led by Kevin Harvey, who was 54th overall in 4:18.43. Behind Harvey was Brian Riley in 56th (4:18.67), Michael Belgiovine in 71st (4:20.49), and Sam Stuart in 79th (4:21.63).

The Rams then had three runners in the 800 meters, led by Brian Schmidt, who broke his week old school record in the 800 meters, posting a time of 1:50.81, good for a fifth place finish. John Cosgrove finished behind Schmidt in 14th place at 1:52.63, while Tim Hutchinson was 68th overall (1:57.24).

Less than an hour later, Schmidt was right back to work with Atkinson, Delligatti, and Bongiorno in the men's 4x400 relay, where they capped the day with a fifth place finish in a season-best time of 3:16.27.

The Rams will next be in action on February 18-19, as they travel to Kingston, Rhode Island for the 2011 Atlantic 10 Championships, held at the University of Rhode Island.
