Competition at the Valentine's Day Track & Field Classic began on Friday with the bulk of women's events, beginning this afternoon. In all, Fordham competed in seven events, posting two top ten finishes, led by Kelly Connolly and Kerri Gallagher.
The events opened with the women's 400 meters, where Elisabeth Warren posted a season-best time of 58.76 seconds, placing 25th overall.
Next came the 60 meter dash, as Sherilyn Groeninger qualified for the finals with a preliminary time of 7.92 seconds. She then placed 11th in the finals, clocking in at 7.90 seconds. Groeninger would come back later in the meet in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.08 seconds, good for 30th overall.
Kelly Connolly then took to the track, posting one of the Rams' top ten finishes. She placed sixth overall in a season-best time of 1:16.32.
The 1,000 meter run was the next event, as
Ashley Davis put together her best time of the season at 2:59.21, good for 20th overall.
The Rams had two competitors in the mile run, as it was Kerri Gallagher and Anisa Arsenault's turn on the track. Gallagher placed ninth overall in a season-best time of 4:48.90, while Arsenault finished 43rd overall in 5:06.63.
The Rams' final competitor was Diane Bain in the 800 meter run, as she laid down a time of 2:22.92, which ranked 73rd overall.
The competition at the Valentine's Day Classic concludes on Saturday with the women's distance medley relay, as well as the entire men's competition, where Fordham will have athletes in six events.
