Fordham Game Notes

Fordham enters the game with a 5-6 record after an 81-70 win over Texas State University last Thursday in the Rose Hill Gym. Georgia Tech enters the game with a 7-5 record, after a 59-56 loss to Mercer University in the Arena at Gwinnett (one of the Yellow jackets' home court as their on-campus arena undergoes renovation) last Thursday night.

Georgia Tech will be the first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) school to come into the historic Rose Hill Gym since December 17, 1964 when North Carolina State University ventured up to the Bronx and escaped with a 65-64 win over the Rams.

Georgia Tech will be only the third ACC school to appear in the Rose Hill Gym, joining North Carolina State and the University of Maryland, who defeated the Rams 61-58 on December 7, 1957. North Carolina played Fordham in the 69th Street Armory on January 4, 1941 and Virginia came up to New York to face Fordham on February 4, 1950 in Madison Square Garden but both those game occurred before the formation of the ACC in 1953.

On the court, Fordham is led by junior Chris Gaston, who has notched a double-double in nine of the eleven games this year, most recently scoring a career-high 35 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in the win over Texas State last week which earned him Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week honors.

Over his career, Gaston has accumulated 753 career rebounds, 753 career boards, placing him ninth place on the Fordham career rebounding list, three behind Sanford Jenkins (1988-82) who is eighth, and he now has 1,127 career points, good for 23rd on the Rams' all-time scoring list, one point behind John Stevens (1962-65) for 22nd place.
