Two Fordham Football Players Selected to Play in FCS Senior Scout Bowl

Dec. 13, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - Fordham University seniors Andy Okonkwo and Jonathan Sheridan have been selected to appear in the 2011 FCS Senior Bowl on December 17th at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle, Beach, S.C. This is the second year that the Rams have had two players appear in the game. In the inaugural game last year, tight end Stephen Skelton and wide receiver Jason Caldwell represented Fordham.

The FCS Senior Football Bowl is presented by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL) to showcase the top players of the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision. The FCS Senior Football Bowl brings players who represent 124 FCS Division football programs, to a North vs. South format all-star game in Mid-December each year. These players will have earned the honor to play against their best peers in a showcase for scouts and fans to recognize their talent.

Okonkwo, a defensive lineman, was limited by injury to seven games in 2011. He recorded 16 tackles, nine solo, on the year.

Over his career, Okonkwo has compiled 70 total tackles, 34 solo, including 6.5 for loss and one sack. He also had one pass deflection.

Sheridan, a center, was a three-year starter on the Fordham offensive line, the last two at center. This past fall, he started all eleven games, anchoring the Rams' line.

The 2010 Fordham offense was also ranked second in overall offense in the Patriot League (383.5 yards/game) and the offensive line also allowed just 16 sacks in eleven games, third best in the Patriot League
