The women's basketball team will play the third of three straight road games on Sunday, December 11, when they face Stony Brook University on Long Island at 2:00 PM from the Pritchard Gym. The Rams dropped the first two road games in this stretch and look to get back on the winning track. The game can be heard live on www.WFUV.org www.wfuv.org.
Fordham enters the game with a 5-4 record, having most recently lost to #11 Rutgers, 68-48, on Thursday in New Brunswick. In that game, Becky Peters led the Rams with a dozen points and Abigail Corning chipped in with 10.
On the season, three Rams are averaging double figures in scoring, led by Corning at 11.8, followed by Peters at 11.3 and Arielle Collins is scoring 10.1 ppg. Collins leads the team in assists with 28 and Charlotte Stoddart leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 rpg.
The Seawolves enter the game with a 1-7 mark after losing to LIU, 66-59, in overtime, on Thursday, their fourth straight loss. The team is led in scoring by Whitney Davis at 7.5 ppg followed by Jessica Previlon (6.8 ppg) and Dani Klupenger (6.4 ppg).
Fordham and Stony Brook will meet for the eighth time on Sunday in Stony Brook, New York. The series began in Stony Brook in 1971, when the Rams defeated the Seawolves, 28-26. The most recent meeting saw Fordham prevail, 81-73, in a game played in Elon, North Carolina in 2010. As far as the series goes, Fordham is currently on a four-game-winning streak against Stony Brook. The Seawolves last beat the Rams in 1973.
Following the game with Stony Brook, the Rams return home to face Winthrop on December 17 before taking a short break and then returning to action as they the 2011 Fordham Holiday Classic.
