Fordham's Kristina Maksuti Named to the Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer All-Rookie Team

Nov. 3, 2011

Newport News, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams and major award winners this afternoon, prior to the start of the Atlantic 10 Championship, which begins later today. Fordham University freshman forward Kristina Maksuti (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) was the lone Ram to earn postseason honors, as she was selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, following a stellar first season at Rose Hill.

Maksuti was an offensive force from the first game of the season at Seton Hall, when she became the first Fordham freshman to record a multi-goal game in her first career game. Overall, it was the seventh time in team history that a freshman had scored in her first career game.

Maksuti led the Rams in goals (9), assists (5), points (23), shots (65), and game-winning goals (4), and tied the school record for points by a freshman, matching Sarah Hopkins' total of 23 points in 2003. She was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week once this season, and registered at least one point in 10 of her first 12 games. She also had a streak of five consecutive games with a goal in September.

As of November 30th, Maksuti still ranked in the top 100 in the NCAA in points per game (78th - 1.35) and goals per game (76th - 0.529). In the Atlantic 10, she finished the regular season ranked fourth in shots, tied for sixth in points and goals, tied for seventh in assists, and tied for third in game-winning goals.
