Fordham Basketball Gears Up for Busy Week

Bronx, N.Y. - Even though there currently is no NBA season going on, the Fordham men's basketball program will have what amounts to an NBA schedule over the next two weeks, playing a total of six games in 14 days, starting with a three-game home stand that begins on Tuesday. The Rams will face Colgate University on Tuesday, Lehigh University on Thursday and Hampton University next Monday in the historic Rose Hill Gym. All games begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Fordham women's basketball team will also have a home contest this week as they host the University of San Diego on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Order your tickets on-line by clicking here or call the ticket office at 855-RAM-TIXS or 718-817-4759. All Fordham student are admitted free with a valid Fordham ID.

The Fordham basketball program will also begin their annual Toy Drive this week. Fans are encouraged to bring new unwrapped toys to the games. The men's and women's teams will distribute all donated items to children at their annual visit to the St. Barnabas Hospital's Pediatric Clinic in the Bronx.

The Rams enter the game with a 1-2 overall record after falling to Loyola, 64-50, in Chicago on Saturday in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Colgate enters the game with a 2-3 overall record, falling to Marist, 81-73, in Poughkeepsie on Saturday.

On the court, Fordham is led by junior Chris Gaston, who scored 19 points and grabbed ten rebounds at Loyola on Saturday, his second straight double-double of the year and the 38th of his career. The 19 points bring his career total to 997, moving him into 35th place on the Fordham all-time scoring list. He is aiming to become the 34th Rams to score more than 1,000 career points. Gaston also now has 661 career rebounds, moving him up to 13th on the Fordham career list.

Tuesday's game will be the 28th meeting between the Rams and the Raiders on the hardwood. Fordham leads the all-time series, which started in 1928, 16-11, but Colgate has won the past three match-ups, including a 75-68 win on March 5, 1995, at the Patriot League Championships in the last meeting between the two schools.
