Fordham Baseball's Annual Maroon-White Series Goes to the Maroon in a Three-Game Sweep

Nov. 14, 2011

Bronx, N.Y. - Following the early winter storm a couple of weeks ago, the Fordham baseball team was finally able to hold its annual Maroon-White Series during fall action. The Maroon team ended up posting a three-game sweep of the series.

In game one, the Maroon team earned a 6-5 victory with some late heroics. With the score tied at five in the final inning, sophomore Chris Pike entered the game with bases loaded and one out and did not allow a run. Then in the bottom half of the inning, freshman David Judisky hit a game-winning triple to score sophomore Tim Swatek from first base, giving the opener to the Maroon squad.

Game two saw the Maroon take advantage of some early walks, and built up a 6-1 early lead and never looked back.

The final game of the series saw the Maroon team earn the series sweep with a 5-2 victory. The game featured some timely hitting and good defense, while pitchers for both teams threw well. However the Maroon pitching, led by Swatek and junior Ryan Fedak, kept the White team in check.
