St. Louis, Mo. - On the heels of a 7-2 record in the Atlantic 10, which garnered the team a share of the regular-season title, the Fordham men's soccer team earned the top seed at the A-10 championship and will open play on Friday against sixth-seeded Xavier. The Rams finished in a tie with George Washington, but took the top spot in the tournament based on the tiebreaker rules.

The team posted an 11-6-1 overall mark for the season and defeated two ranked opponents for the first time in school history. They beat #23 Xavier, 1-0 on October 7, and bested that by blanking #10 Charlotte, 1-0 on October 23.

Most recently, the team saw seven players recognized by that Atlantic 10. Ryan Meara was named Defensive Player of the year as well as First Team All-Conference. Nathaniel Bekoe joined him on the First Team. Second Team honorees included Ryan Curran, John Niyonsaba and Tim Richardson, while Jack-Tim Murphy was named to the All-Rookie Team and Aaron Markowitz was recognized as Academic All-Conference.

After conclusion of play on Thursday, Xavier upset Charlotte, 2-1, in overtime, thus making the opponent for the Rams the Musketeers. Fordham and Xavier met earlier in the season and Fordham upset the #23 Musketeers, 1-0 on a goal by Matt Courtenay. The game on Friday is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM Eastern time.
