Plymouth Meeting, Pa. - The Fordham men's golf team sits in a tie for 17th place, out of 22 teams after shooting a 310 in the opening round of the Big 5 Invitational from the Par 70, Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. The Rams are tied with Towson in that position and they both trail Dartmouth, who leads all 22 squads with a six-over 286 on Saturday. Connor Monaghan sunk three birdie putts to lead the Rams.

It was a day of ups and down for the Fordham golfers on Saturday as they shot their way to a wide range of scores. Leading the way for the team was junior, Jason Del Rosso, who shot a five-over-par 75, including sinking birdies on the par-three 12th and the par-four 15th. He is currently in 36th place. Classmate, Monaghan, whose three birdies came on the par-four 10th, par-four 15th and the par-five 18th holes, finished his round with a six-over score of 76, good for a tie in 48th place.

The next Fordham finisher was Brody Nieporte, who shots a nine-over 79, which put him in a tie for 75th. Rounding out the scoring was senior captain, Devon O'Rourke, who made two birdies en route to a ten-over 80 and freshman Jeff Hogan, who equaled O'Rourke's score while making a birdie on 18. They are both in 85th place among individual golfers.

The second and final round gets underway on Sunday, October 9. The Rams are looking to improve on their 17th place position.
