Water Polo Earns Split of Matches at the Claremont Convergence Tournament

Claremont, Calif. - The Fordham water polo team continued their west coast trip on Friday by participating in day one of the Claremont Convergence Tournament in Claremont, California. The Rams opened the day with a 12-7 win over LaVerne, while falling in match two to Occidental, 11-6.

In match one, Fordham's J.D. Shrewsbury scored four times to lead the Rams to a 12-7 victory over the LaVerne Leopards at Las Flores Park on the University of LaVerne campus.

Besides Shrewsbury, Robert Fleming tallied three goals, while Jake Bakas netted two markers. Andrew McKernin, Nicholas Allen and Eric Minowitz also found the back of the net for the Rams. In goal, Noah LeBeau had nine saves in the win.

Match two saw Occidental take an 11-6 decision from the Rams at Haldeman Pool on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer.

Shrewsbury was again the scoring star for Fordham, netting three goals, with Minowitz having two goals. McKernin added the Rams' final tally. LeBeau registered 14 saves in net for the Rams.

The Fordham water polo team will wrap up their west coast swing on Saturday with matches against Cal Lutheran at 1:20 PM Eastern and 10th-ranked Concordia (Calif.) at 5:20 PM Eastern.
