The Fordham men's golf team closed out the fall portion of its schedule by winning the FDU Invitational from the New Jersey National Golf Club in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The winning score of 607 was 14 strokes better than runner-up school, St. Peter's College, who posted a 621. The Rams came in 5th twice and 1st here, in the last three fall events.
Among individual golfers, freshman Jeff Hogan finished 2nd overall, with a score of 151 on rounds of 75 and 76. The winning competitor was Monmouth's Ian Thimble, who put up scores of 76 and 73 for a 149.
The Rams had four other golfers finish in the top-20 as Brody Nieporte shot rounds of 76 and 76 for a 152, which put him in a tie for third. After him, Jason Del Rosso shared 5th position with a total of 153 from 76 and 77 scores. Connor Monaghan finished 8th with a scorecard of 78-76-154. The final team competitor, Devon O'Rourke, was all alone in 11th after a score of 156 on rounds of 75 and 81.
Thee other Fordham golfers competed in the individual competition. Brian Engstrom finished in a tie for 21st with a 162 on rounds of 79 and 83. Ben Alcorn shared the 25th spot with a total of 164 from scores of 81 and 83. Finally, Brandon Nolan was a stroke behind Alcorn with a 165. His rounds of 80 and 85 gave him a share of 28th place.
The golf team is on hiatus until the spring time. The schedule will be updated as it becomes known.
