The Fordham men's golf team is closing out the fall portion of its schedule in high times as they are all alone in first place after completion of play in round one of the Fairleigh Dickinson Invitational from the New Jersey National Golf Club in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The Rams posted a score of 302, which put them one stroke ahead of host, FDU, who are at 303. There are a total of nine teams in the tournament.
Among individual golfers, Devon O'Rourke and Jeff Hogan both shot rounds of 75 on the par-72 course, which puts them in a tie for fourth. Jason Del Rosso and Brody Nieporte are also in the top-10, as they are tied in 7th with scores of 76. The fifth Fordham competitor for the team is Connor Monaghan, who shot a 78.
There are three other Fordham golfers competing for just the individual title. Freshman, Brian Engstrom recorded a 79 and sits in 24th place. In 26th position is Brandon Nolan, who posted an 80. The final golfer for the Rams was Ben Alcorn, whose score of 81 put him in a tie for 27th.
The second and final round of the FDU Invitational is slated to begin early in the morning on Tuesday, October 25. The Rams will see if they can hold off the Knights and win the championship.
